New Delhi: Indian actress Jasmin Bhasin has opened up about facing criticism over her appearance during childhood, revealing that she struggled with insecurity and would even pray at a temple to become more beautiful.
Speaking on Jay Madan’s podcast, Bhasin recalled being repeatedly told that she was “dark” as a child. She said comments about her skin, acne and thin physique made her feel upset and contributed to feelings of inferiority.
Bhasin said her father once took her to the Beejasan Mata Temple in Rajasthan, where she climbed several steps and specifically prayed that God would make her beautiful enough that people would one day want to meet her.
She recalled that she would often visit the temple simply to make the same prayer. Describing herself as an innocent child at the time, Bhasin said she sincerely believed her wish would eventually come true.
During the podcast, the actress also said that she believes in and respects all religions.
