ISLAMABAD, October 9, 2026: Jamia Masjid Hazrat Ali R.A. was formally inaugurated at Faisal Hills on Friday, opening a major new place of worship for communities across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock.

The mosque, described by its management as the region’s largest after Faisal Mosque, was opened to worshippers ahead of Friday prayers.

Chairman Faisal Town Group Chaudhry Abdul Majeed attended the inauguration and joined worshippers in offering special prayers for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.

Mosque Spans 10 Kanals With 85,000 Square Feet Covered Area

Built over 10 kanals, Jamia Masjid Hazrat Ali R.A. has a total covered area of 85,000 square feet across four storeys and can accommodate more than 22,000 worshippers.

Its main architectural features include a 180-foot-high minaret and a central dome measuring 60 feet in both width and height.

The three-storey main prayer hall follows an open architectural design, while a central skylight allows natural light to enter the interior and creates a more spacious environment.

The mosque also features detailed golden-foil finishing, chandeliers imported from Iran and a specially designed upper dome covering imported from China.

Separate Facilities for Women, Parking and Funeral Prayers

The mosque complex includes parking space for 300 vehicles and ablution facilities capable of serving 200 people at a time.

A separate prayer hall and entrance have been provided for women, while the complex also includes a dedicated area for funeral prayers.

In addition, around 10,000 square feet has been allocated for educational and community facilities, including a madrassa, an Islamic library and community centres.

New Religious and Community Centre for Twin Cities Region

Jamia Masjid Hazrat Ali R.A. is expected to serve as a major centre for worship, religious learning and community gatherings for residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock and surrounding areas.

Its large capacity and range of supporting facilities are also expected to make it an important religious landmark within the Faisal Hills development.
