Islamabad, October 9, 2026: A 20-year-old university student was found dead near a green belt close to Itwar Bazaar in Islamabad, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and an alleged visa fraud involving Rs5 million paid to an agent to facilitate travel to the United States.
According to a report by ARY News, police identified the student as Laiba, who was enrolled at the International Islamic University Islamabad and lived in G-10 Markaz.
Police officials said the student had allegedly paid an agent Rs5 million to arrange her travel to the United States. She reportedly experienced severe mental distress after discovering that the documents provided to her were fake.
Police Investigate Suspected Fraud
According to police, Laiba left home at around 2 p.m. without informing her family. Her relatives later used her mobile phone’s location to reach the green belt near Itwar Bazaar, where her body was found.
Police said the circumstances appeared consistent with a suspected suicide, but an investigation was underway to establish the facts.
Authorities are also examining the alleged fraud and the agent’s possible involvement in providing fake documents. Police said the post-mortem report would help clarify the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
