More than 8,500 crime incidents were reported in Islamabad over the past five months, including cases of theft, robbery, murder, attempted murder, vehicle theft, kidnapping and rape, according to details obtained by Dunya News from a police performance report.
The Islamabad crime report shows that 8,587 incidents were recorded across the federal capital during the period. The figures matter because they reflect rising public safety concerns in different police zones of the city.
According to the report, 45 cars and 854 motorcycles were stolen during the five-month period. Forty-eight citizens lost their lives in crime-related incidents, while 137 people were injured.
The report said Islamabad recorded cases involving theft, robbery, murder and attempted murder across several police zones.
In murder cases, four people were killed in the City Zone, eight in the Saddar Zone, 12 in the I-9 Zone, 10 in the Sawan Zone and 13 in the Rural Zone. Four people were killed during resistance to robbery.
The report also recorded one kidnapping case and 34 rape cases in the federal capital.
According to zone-wise figures, three rape cases were reported in the City Zone, nine in the Saddar Zone, eight in the I-9 Zone, 10 in the Sawan Zone and four in the Rural Zone.
The figures highlight the scale of reported crime in Islamabad and the pressure on law enforcement agencies to improve public safety and response mechanisms.
