Islamabad City Parade 2026 Set for D-Chowk

The free public event on August 14 will feature police contingents, live music, cultural performances, children’s activities, floats and a fireworks display.

ISLAMABAD, August 13, 2026: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration are set to host the “Islamabad City Parade 2026” at D-Chowk on Friday, August 14, as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

The event will begin after 5:00pm and will be open to the general public free of charge. Separate enclosures will be available for families, while comprehensive security and safety arrangements have been made for attendees.

Music, Performances and Fireworks

The mega event will feature performances by various contingents of the Islamabad Police, along with a musical concert featuring singers Nimra Mehra and Sahir Ali Bagga, among other artists.

A range of activities has also been planned for families and children, including a puppet show, colourful floats, mascots and cultural performances.

A major fireworks display will be held later in the evening as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

6,000 Seats Arranged for Public

CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf visited D-Chowk along with senior officials to review preparations and rehearsals for the event.

Speaking to the media, Ashraf recalled that D-Chowk had hosted national parades on March 23 in previous decades before such events were discontinued at the venue. He said the parade was now being revived as a public event for residents of the capital.

Ashraf said special arrangements had been made for families and that the routes leading to D-Chowk would remain open for people attending the celebration.

According to the CDA chairman, approximately 6,000 seats have been arranged, while the venue has sufficient space to accommodate a larger crowd.

Medical and Accessibility Facilities

The administration said medical teams would establish medical camps at the venue to deal with any emergencies.

Separate seating arrangements will be available for families, while wheelchairs will also be provided for people with disabilities who require assistance.

CDA and the ICT Administration have appealed to citizens to participate in the Independence Day celebration with enthusiasm and patriotism.

Officials described the Islamabad City Parade 2026 as one of the largest public events planned in the capital and encouraged residents to attend and celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day at D-Chowk.
