October 7, 2026: Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have been on the market for only a few weeks, but some users are already reporting apparent discoloration on the exterior of the devices.

According to online reports, the issue has appeared on different versions of the phone, though users say it is more noticeable on the burgundy model.

The reported color change does not appear across the entire rear panel. Instead, users say it is concentrated around the three-camera module on the back of the device.

Some owners claim the discoloration is not caused by dust, grease or visible damage, saying the affected area does not return to its original appearance even after cleaning.

The exact cause remains unclear.

One user suggested that heat generated during camera use could be contributing to the change in color around the camera area. However, no technical explanation has been confirmed.

Multiple user reports have raised questions over whether the issue affects more than isolated units, though the scale of the problem has not been independently established.

Apple has not yet issued an official explanation regarding the reported discoloration, and it remains unclear whether the company will offer repairs, replacements or another remedy for affected devices.

This is not the first time users have reported exterior color changes on a recent iPhone model.

Some orange iPhone 17 Pro units were also reported to have developed noticeable discoloration. Apple replaced affected devices free of charge last year, according to available reports.

However, the iPhone 17 Pro issue was reportedly less widespread than the current claims surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro.
