Apple has introduced a new camera feature for the iPhone 18 Pro aimed at addressing concerns over AI-generated and digitally altered images. The feature allows users to preserve an unedited, verifiable version of a photograph captured with the device.
Apple says the feature could help photographers demonstrate that a scene shown in an image was actually present in front of the camera. It provides an additional way to establish the authenticity of visual content as AI tools make image creation and manipulation easier.
The move comes as trust in online images becomes a growing concern. Apple already offers tools such as Clean Up that allow users to remove or modify objects in photos, while the new feature is designed to provide a way to retain an original reference version.
