Islamabad — Islamabad Industrial Association (IIA) President Omais Khattak has called for direct representation of the industrial sector on the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board, saying it is essential for resolving long-standing issues faced by Islamabad’s Industrial Area.
He said the absence of an effective industry voice in policy and decision-making has led to persistent challenges for industrial units, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, basic utilities, taxation, and regulatory procedures. He stressed that the industrial sector remains a key driver of the national economy and requires stronger institutional inclusion.
According to Omais Khattak, the association has submitted a detailed set of proposals to the CDA Chairman aimed at improving governance and service delivery in the Industrial Area. The recommendations include the appointment of an industry representative to the CDA Board, the establishment of a dedicated help desk for industrial concerns, and a coordinated mechanism for addressing day-to-day operational issues.
He said such measures would make decision-making more practical and aligned with ground realities, adding that industry participation would improve policy implementation and strengthen coordination between authorities and businesses.
Khattak urged the government and CDA to prioritize the proposals, stating that their approval would help promote investment, create employment opportunities, and support export growth. He said the reforms could contribute to transforming Islamabad into a more efficient industrial and commercial hub.
