In a significant step toward strengthening regional defence ties, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent has arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the bilateral aerial combat exercise, Indus Shield Alpha. The deployment features the advanced JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets, supported by a skilled team of air and ground crew.
Demonstrating exceptional operational capability, the PAF fighters completed a non-stop flight from Pakistan to Azerbaijan, executing precise in-flight air-to-air refuelling operations. The mid-air refuelling, carried out by PAF’s IL-78 aerial tanker, highlighted the long-range endurance of the JF-17 fleet and underscored the professionalism of the aircrew in managing extended international missions.
Exercise Indus Shield Alpha is designed to deepen tactical coordination, mutual understanding, and interoperability between the two allied air forces. The joint drills will focus on modern aerial warfare tactics, collaborative mission planning, and execution in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The exercise also provides a strategic platform for exchanging operational insights and enhancing joint responses to emerging air defence challenges.
The PAF’s participation reaffirms its commitment to regional stability and global military cooperation. It reflects the Air Force’s ongoing efforts to adapt to contemporary warfare demands while upholding its legacy of excellence across all domains of air operations.
