KAKAMIGAHARA, Japan: India secured a place in the final of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup after defeating Pakistan 5-3 in a high-scoring semi-final on Friday.
The closely contested match saw both teams adopt an attacking approach, producing an entertaining encounter for spectators. However, India made better use of key scoring opportunities and maintained their advantage to seal victory at the final whistle.
Pakistan fought back throughout the match but were unable to overcome India’s lead despite scoring three goals in the semi-final clash.
India advance to title match
With the win, India booked their place in the final of the tournament and will now compete for the continental title.
The victory also extended India’s impressive run in the competition, where they have consistently delivered strong performances against leading teams from across Asia.
Pakistan miss out on final
The defeat ended Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the championship match, although the team remains among the top-performing sides in the tournament.
Pakistan’s young players showed resilience and attacking intent throughout the competition, but the semi-final proved to be their final hurdle in the race for the title.
The Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup is being held in Japan and features some of the region’s most promising young hockey talent competing for continental honours.
