ISLAMABAD: The Islamic Research Institute at the International Islamic University Islamabad awarded postdoctoral certificates to 100 scholars after they completed the academic and research requirements of the 2024–2025 fellowship session.
The certificates were distributed during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium on the university’s Faisal Masjid Campus.
The event brought together academics, researchers and university officials from across Pakistan, with speakers highlighting the growing importance of advanced research in national development, policymaking and higher education.
State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar attended the ceremony as chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she praised IIUI and IRI for their contribution to higher education and said postdoctoral research could play an important role in strengthening policy, educational leadership and national progress.

IIUI President and Acting Rector Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Al Alahmed congratulated the scholars and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting high-quality academic research. He also thanked the guests, faculty members and organisers for their role in arranging the event.
Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Dr Allama Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, who attended as guest of honour, commended the scholars for their research work and contributions to contemporary Islamic scholarship.
University of Narowal Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq delivered the keynote address. He said postdoctoral research had the potential to help address contemporary social challenges and strengthen academic and policy frameworks.

Earlier, IRI Director General Prof Dr Muhammad Akram welcomed the participants and highlighted the institute’s academic legacy and expanding research engagement. He said the institute remained committed to supporting research with wider scholarly and social impact.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the 100 scholars, followed by a group photograph and lunch.
