ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has granted interim pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Simabia Tahir in a case registered against her under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard Simabia Tahir’s petition seeking pre-arrest bail. The PTI leader appeared before the court along with her legal team during the proceedings.

According to her counsel, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered a case against Tahir under PECA, and there were concerns that she could be taken into custody.

After hearing initial arguments, the court approved interim bail for Simabia Tahir until the next hearing and restrained authorities from arresting her during that period.

Court Issues Notice To FIA

The Islamabad High Court also issued a notice to the FIA, directing the agency to submit its response to the petition.

The case relates to proceedings initiated under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, a law that governs cybercrime and online activity in Pakistan.

Next Hearing Scheduled For June 17

Following the issuance of notices, the court adjourned further proceedings until June 17.

The case will be taken up again after the FIA submits its response and the court hears arguments from both sides.
