ICCI President Urges Islamabad Graduates to Develop Market-Driven Skills

ISLAMABAD: The President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has urged fresh graduates to develop market-driven and future-ready skills, stressing that employability in today’s job market depends on practical knowledge rather than academic qualifications alone.

He was speaking to a group of graduates who visited the Chamber to interact with Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry leadership, where discussions focused on skills development, youth employability, and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

Skills Beyond Degrees Essential for Jobs

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President said traditional degrees are no longer sufficient in a rapidly evolving professional environment. He emphasized the need for digital, technical, entrepreneurial, and soft skills, noting that employers increasingly seek adaptable and job-ready candidates.

Describing Pakistan’s youth as a key national asset, he said that equipping young people with relevant skills could significantly contribute to economic growth and competitiveness.

Industry–Academia Gap Needs Urgent Attention

Highlighting ICCI’s role in youth development, he said the Chamber is actively working with universities and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to bridge the gap between education and industry needs.

He stressed the importance of aligning academic curricula with market requirements so graduates can contribute effectively from the first day of employment.

ICCI Leadership Encourages Innovation and Practical Exposure

The Senior Vice President of ICCI emphasized continuous engagement between educational institutions and the private sector, urging graduates to focus on innovation, adaptability, and lifelong learning.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of ICC the chamber highlighted the importance of internships, hands-on experience, and entrepreneurship, assuring that ICCI would continue providing platforms for mentorship, industry interaction, and career exploration.

The visiting graduates appreciated the chamber’s engagement with youth and expressed interest in future collaboration initiatives. The session concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation among industry, academia, and skill-development institutions to support sustainable economic growth.
