SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A walk was also held on the occasion of World Hypertension Day at District Headquarters Hospital Wana of Lower South Waziristan district.
Officials said in the statement the aim of the event was to create awareness about hypertension, its risks and preventive measures.
Deputy Commissioner of South Waziristan Lower Muhammad Nasir Khan was the chief guest of the event.
On this occasion the District Health Officer (DHO) South Waziristan Lower Dr. Inayat Ur Rehman and Assistant Commissioner (AC) Wana Faisal Ismail also participated in the seminar.
Officials said, the seminar started with the opening address of renowned medical specialist Dr. Shan Ullah.
He gave a detailed presentation on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of hypertension.
Dr. Shan Ullah emphasized the importance of early detection of hypertension, and informed about the potential health risks of uncontrolled blood pressure such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure.
His presentation provided practical advice on lifestyle changes, regular use of medications, and routine monitoring, while emphasizing that active management is essential to reduce the adverse effects of hypertension.
On this occasion, Dr. Hammad Mehmood, Medical Superintendent and Health Manager of DHQ Hospital Wana, provided an update on the performance of the hospital after taking over the management of Non Government Organization MERF (Medical Emergency Resilience Foundation).
Dr. Hammad highlighted significant improvements in health services, increased emergency response, improved patient care protocols, and the introduction of new medical devices.
He appreciated the joint efforts of the hospital staff and MERF Organization.
He said the administration who transformed the hospital into an important health facility in the region.
South Waziristan Lower DHO Dr. Inayat Ur Rehman praised the excellence and dedication of the hospital staff and management of MERF.
He appreciated their continuous efforts in health delivery and expressed their commitment to public health.
Dr. Inayat also spoke on the importance of public involvement and education, which plays an important role in the fight against a wide range of health problems like hypertension.

After the seminar, the participants also took out a symbolic walk which was taken out from the auditorium to the emergency block of the hospital.
