ISLAMABAD: HugoBank, an upcoming digital banking institution in Pakistan, has received approval from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to commence pilot operations, marking a key step towards the launch of its digital banking services in the country.

The approval will allow HugoBank to test its products, technology systems, and operational framework under real-world conditions with a limited customer base before moving towards a full-scale public launch.

The pilot phase will focus on ensuring regulatory compliance, robust security measures, and a seamless customer experience while allowing the bank to refine its digital banking solutions based on operational insights and user feedback.

HugoBank said its objective is to expand access to secure and convenient financial services by offering a technology-driven banking experience designed around customer needs.

As Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand, the entry of new digital banking platforms is expected to contribute towards greater financial inclusion by providing simpler and more accessible banking solutions.

HugoBank will continue developing its platform during the pilot phase before seeking a broader public rollout after meeting operational and regulatory requirements set by the central bank.
