Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has addressed speculation surrounding his possible exclusion from Pakistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, saying that while missing out would be disappointing, it would not bring his international career to an end.
Speaking in an interview, Rauf said selection matters are part of a professional cricketer’s journey. He stressed that his focus remains on performance and improvement rather than speculation surrounding squad announcements.
“If I am not included in the T20 World Cup, it would be disappointing, but it will not be the end of my career,” Rauf said. He added that he continues to work on his bowling and aims to deliver strong performances whenever given the opportunity.

The fast bowler also extended his support to the national side, wishing the team well for the upcoming tournament. He emphasised that representing Pakistan has always been a matter of pride and commitment for him.
Reflecting on the demands of international cricket, Rauf highlighted the challenges bowlers face, particularly in high-pressure situations. He noted that bowling in the death overs requires consistency and resilience, adding that there is a clear distinction between constructive criticism and unfair treatment of players.
Rauf further stated that he has maintained consistent performances since the Asia Cup and remains confident in his abilities moving forward.
Last week, the Pakistan Cricket Board submitted a preliminary list of players to the International Cricket Council for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The board retains the option to revise the list until January 31 without requiring ICC approval.
According to sources, the probable list includes Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Khan and Abrar Ahmed. Other players under consideration include Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafay, while Abdul Samad, Mohammad Wasim Jr and Usman Tariq are expected to be named among the reserve players.
Pakistan have been placed in Group A alongside India, the United States, the Netherlands and Namibia. All of Pakistan’s group-stage matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
