Hamdard University’s Islamabad Campus held a grand ceremony to commemorate Pakistan’s Independence Day, bringing together faculty members, students and university administration for an event focused on patriotism, national unity and the country’s development.
Campus Director Professor Dr. Umar Shahbaz Khan attended the ceremony as chief guest and hoisted the national flag during the opening ceremony, followed by the national anthem. The event also highlighted the sacrifices made during the Pakistan Movement and the importance of responsible citizenship.
National Unity and Youth Development Highlighted
Faculty members performed Milli Naghmay, adding a patriotic spirit to the celebrations. A quiz competition between faculty members and administrative staff was also organized, featuring questions about Pakistan’s history, the Pakistan Movement and prominent national personalities.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr. Mumtaz Jaffery described independence as a great blessing achieved through the sacrifices of previous generations. She said young people have a key role in Pakistan’s future and encouraged students to contribute to national development through education, skills and responsible citizenship.
She also emphasized the importance of national unity, tolerance and a strong sense of responsibility among citizens.
Campus Director Calls for Education and Research
Chief Guest Professor Dr. Umar Shahbaz Khan highlighted the historical significance of Independence Day and said Pakistan’s creation was the result of a prolonged struggle and numerous sacrifices.
Referring to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline, he urged faculty members and students to incorporate these values into their daily lives.
Dr. Khan encouraged the university community to contribute to Pakistan’s progress through education, research and constructive participation in society.
The ceremony also paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership and those who sacrificed their lives during the Pakistan Movement. Participants expressed their commitment to contributing to Pakistan’s security, stability, prosperity and development.
The event concluded with a special prayer for the country’s progress, prosperity, security and stability, with participants reaffirming their commitment to national unity and Pakistan’s continued development.
