KARACHI: Pakistan’s natural resources, agricultural strength, diverse landscapes and talented population are among its key national assets, while young people have a vital role in protecting and developing these strengths, speakers said at a Hamdard Naunehal Assembly session in Karachi.
The session, titled “An Aware Nation, a Safe Homeland,” was held at Army Public School. Director Karachi Garrison Education System Brigadier (retd) Ahmed Farrukh attended as chief guest, while President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan Sadia Rashid presided over the meeting. Syed Muhammad Arsalan, Director Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, was also present.
Ahmed Farrukh said the younger generation has access to significantly more information and learning resources than previous generations, with mobile phones, the internet and social media providing unprecedented access to knowledge.
He said young people could use these resources to develop their skills, learn more quickly and contribute to national progress, provided they use technology responsibly and wisely.
Farrukh also praised the role of the monthly Hamdard Naunehal magazine in the moral, Islamic and social development of children. He paid tribute to Sadia Rashid for continuing the mission of Shaheed-e-Pakistan Hakim Mohammed Said.
He said national security depends not only on strong defence capabilities but also on an aware, united, principled and responsible population. Pakistan’s youth, he added, have considerable potential and can help take the country towards greater progress with proper guidance and positive thinking.
In her presidential address, Sadia Rashid said the country’s real strength lies in citizens who are aware, responsible and guided by strong principles. She stressed that educating and training children is fundamental to building a safe, strong and prosperous Pakistan.
Rashid said an aware citizen is not merely an educated person but someone who can distinguish between right and wrong, respects the law and the rights of others, speaks the truth, follows discipline, accepts differences of opinion and protects the environment.
She said children would eventually become the country’s doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers, judges, lawyers, journalists, industrialists, soldiers and leaders, making character-building and responsible decision-making essential from an early age.
Rashid recalled that Hakim Mohammed Said regarded children as the nation’s most valuable asset. She said the Hamdard Naunehal Assembly continues that vision by providing children with opportunities to develop public speaking, leadership, tolerance, discipline, national awareness and democratic values.
She emphasised that national progress cannot be achieved through slogans alone and requires knowledge, integrity, hard work, respect for the law and service to humanity.
Students participating in the assembly also highlighted the importance of discipline, unity and organisation. They said national awareness means translating knowledge into responsible action, seeking the truth rather than accepting everything heard, respecting laws, supporting democratic institutions and using the right to vote responsibly.
The speakers stressed that placing national interest above personal gain and developing a sense of civic responsibility among young people are essential for building a stronger and safer Pakistan.
