Islamabad: The government provided funds of over $1,000,000. 18.718 billion for the establishment of Technology Park Development Project (TDP) in Islamabad and IT Park in Karachi under Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2024-25.
It will be an interface to create connectivity between academia, research, industry and planners within Pakistan and abroad. Taman will play a key role in managing knowledge and resources, especially by focusing on the commercialization of knowledge by providing innovation management, business support services, business development and consultancy services. It will also provide office space and IT facilities to IT companies registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).
The IT Park in Karachi will be a catalyst to create business and job opportunities, especially for the youth.
According to PSDP, the government has also allocated $1,000,000. 28,929 crore for the financial year for ongoing and new schemes of the Department of Information Technology and Telecom. Out of this total allocation, Rs. 23,535 million, $ 1,000,000 has been allocated for 16 ongoing schemes. 5,394 crore has been allocated for five new schemes. $1,000,000 in outstanding allocations among ongoing schemes. 300 million for Smart Office Federal Ministries Department (NITB), 1000 million for Cyber Security for Digital Pakistan (NTISB) and Rs. 2,000 crore for Prime Minister’s Initiative – Support for IT start-ups, Specialized IT Training and venture capital (IGNITE & PSEB). For the new scheme Rs. 3500 crore has been allocated for the Digital Economy Development Project (WB. financed) (MoITT / BoI / NITB / NADRA). 800 million in National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Program (NSHRDP) Phase-I (IT Wing), 194 million for expansion of cellular services in AJK and GB Phase-IV (SCO) and Rs. 800 IT Industry Landscape Update (PSEB).
