The foremost responsibility of every responsible government is to protect the health, safety and future of its citizens, especially the younger generation. Recent initiatives by the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Punjab to curb the growing use of vape pods and e-cigarettes reflect this commitment.

Under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, action has been initiated across the province against vape pods and related products. The main objective of these measures is to protect young people from nicotine addiction and promote a healthier society.

By prioritising public health, the Punjab Government has demonstrated its determination to provide future generations with a safer and healthier environment.

The government has made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in the implementation of the law. Relevant authorities have been instructed to ensure strict enforcement of regulations to prevent the illegal sale of vape pods and discourage their use, particularly among young people.

Violations may result in fines, imprisonment and other legal action under the relevant rules and laws. These measures show that the government is treating the issue with seriousness.

However, the success of any law depends not only on government enforcement but also on public cooperation. Parents, teachers, the business community and citizens all have a responsibility to respect the law and play their part in protecting young people from harmful habits.

When the state and society work together toward a common goal, positive and lasting results become more achievable.

The Punjab Government’s initiatives in health, education and public welfare reflect Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s broader vision of building a province where young people can grow up healthy, safe and capable of realising their full potential. The campaign against vape pods is an important part of that vision.

Today, compliance with the law should not be viewed only as a government responsibility. It is a collective national duty. Supporting the efforts of the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Punjab is an investment in the safety and well-being of future generations.

A healthy youth is the true foundation of a strong Punjab and a prosperous Pakistan.
