ISLAMABAD, Oct 13 — Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi has said compliance with international standards has become essential for Pakistani businesses seeking access to global markets, stronger consumer confidence and higher exports.
In his message on World Standards Day, the minister said quality had become a key determinant of international competitiveness as Pakistan looked to expand its presence in overseas markets.
He said conformity with globally recognised standards was no longer optional for manufacturers and service providers, but a requirement for competing internationally and winning the trust of consumers.
Magsi linked this year’s World Standards Day theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy,” with the wider role of standards in supporting sustainable development and addressing climate change.
He said standards provide a practical framework for improving quality and innovation while helping economies move towards cleaner and more sustainable growth.
Highlighting the role of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority, Magsi said PSQCA was responsible for aligning national standards with international best practices and promoting quality across industries.
He also acknowledged the contribution of Pakistani experts involved in standards development, saying the system depended on cooperation between regulators, industry professionals and technical specialists.
The minister urged manufacturers, industrialists and service providers to adopt and implement recognised standards as part of their business practices.
He said greater adherence to standards would not only improve competitiveness but also support Pakistan’s broader goals of sustainable development, export expansion and economic growth.
