Ghanaian spiritualist Nana Kwaku Bonsam has drawn attention on social media after making a new prediction about the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage, claiming Cape Verde will eliminate Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the Round of 32.
The claim has circulated widely among football fans because Argentina are the defending champions, while Cape Verde have emerged as one of the surprise teams of the tournament. The prediction has added to online discussion ahead of the knockout fixture, though it remains a personal claim and has no sporting basis.
Bonsam, who describes himself as a traditional spiritual figure in Ghana, previously attracted attention after claiming he had placed a curse on England captain Harry Kane before England’s match against Ghana. Kane later failed to score in that game, which led to renewed interest in Bonsam’s statements among social media users.
According to reports circulating online, Bonsam has now said Cape Verde will defeat Argentina and end Messi’s campaign in the Round of 32. He also claimed that Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, would go on to win the tournament.
The prediction comes as the expanded 2026 World Cup features a new 48-team format, including a Round of 32 before the traditional last-16 stage. Cape Verde’s progress to the knockout round has already been viewed as one of the notable stories of the tournament.
Football analysts and fans continue to assess the Argentina-Cape Verde matchup on sporting factors, including squad strength, form, experience and knockout-stage pressure
