LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) Lahore student Sardar Salar Ahmed Sindhu has embarked on a solo cycling expedition from Lahore to Siren Valley in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, covering more than 1,000 kilometres.
The Raviian student began his journey on the historic Grand Trunk Road on the morning of September 8, 2026. The expedition is aimed at promoting Pakistan’s positive image through sports and peace while highlighting the determination and resilience of the country’s youth.
Cycling for Peace and Pakistan’s Positive Image
Salar Ahmed plans to cover more than 1,000 kilometres during the expedition, travelling through several cities and mountainous areas before reaching Siren Valley.
The campaign seeks to convey a message that Pakistani youth are committed to peace and have the ability to overcome challenges, remain hopeful and demonstrate perseverance.
The Punjab Sports Department has provided administrative support during the journey with the assistance of Director General Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi.
Warm Welcome Along the Route
The young cyclist received warm welcomes from officials and local residents in Gujranwala, Jhelum, Rawalpindi and Murree as he continued his journey towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Salar is scheduled to enter Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Nathia Gali. The provincial government is expected to provide security, administrative and logistical support for the remaining part of his expedition.
The journey has drawn attention as an example of youth participation in sports while promoting messages of peace, resilience and a positive image of Pakistan.
