GUJAR KHAN, September 22, 2026: Accumulated garbage and stagnant rainwater in deep potholes along a major stretch of the GT Road in Gujar Khan have raised concerns among residents and visitors, particularly around routes leading to key public, judicial and religious locations.
The affected stretch includes roads leading towards the police station, judicial courts, the transit routes used by civil and sessions judges, the central mosque and the central Imambargah. Residents say the accumulation of waste and standing water is creating difficulties for pedestrians and motorists and has raised questions about the effectiveness of ongoing cleanliness measures.
The situation has also drawn attention because a meeting chaired by the Assistant Commissioner was reportedly held two days earlier to review cleanliness arrangements in the city.
Residents Seek Immediate Action
Residents have called for the stagnant water to be drained and the damaged road surfaces to be repaired, saying the condition of the route requires urgent attention.
The presence of standing water in deep potholes can create hazards for motorists and pedestrians, while accumulated garbage can further affect sanitation and the appearance of public areas.
Local residents and visitors have urged the Punjab government and relevant municipal authorities to address the issue and ensure that the affected areas are cleaned and maintained.
