Funeral Prayers Offered for Rangers Personnel Martyred in Karachi Terror Attack

KARACHI: Funeral prayers were offered for Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel who embraced martyrdom while foiling a terrorist attack in Karachi, officials said.

The Rangers personnel had laid down their lives while preventing what officials described as a terrorist attack carried out by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, referred to by authorities as an Indian proxy.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, DG Rangers, families of the martyrs, and senior civil and military officials attended the funeral prayers in large numbers.

The participants paid tribute to the martyrs for their sacrifice and expressed condolences and solidarity with their families.

Interior minister vows action against terrorists

Speaking after the funeral prayers, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the terrorist attack was deeply tragic and those responsible would be held accountable.

He said security forces would pursue terrorists wherever they were and bring them to justice.

Sindh leadership condemns terrorism

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori strongly condemned terrorism and said the struggle to eliminate it from the country would continue.

He said Indian-sponsored terrorism would not be tolerated and that terrorism would be rooted out from the country.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom while defeating the terrorists’ designs.

He paid tribute to the fallen personnel and said the Sindh government stood with security forces for the complete elimination of terrorism from the country.

After the funeral prayers, the bodies of the martyrs were sent to their native areas, where they will be laid to rest with full military honours.

Later, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, accompanied by the Sindh governor, visited the site of the terrorist attack.

Officials said security forces remained committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
