KARACHI, August 5: Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Dr. Fawad Ahmed has announced the launch of free education cards for students enrolled in government schools, saying the initiative is aimed at ensuring that no child is deprived of education due to financial constraints.
The announcement was made during a Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir ceremony held at Nishtar Basti School, organized by the School Department of the Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Education cards to provide free learning essentials
Dr. Fawad Ahmed said the education cards will entitle students to free stationery, school uniforms, shoes, textbooks, and other educational supplies. He added that the program will be officially launched at a special ceremony in the near future.
He described the initiative as part of the town administration’s broader efforts to improve access to quality education and provide financial relief to deserving families.
Enrollment in government schools increases
Speaking at the event, Dr. Fawad Ahmed said the rising enrollment in government schools across Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town reflects increasing public confidence in the quality of education being offered.
He commended teachers for their dedication, saying the students’ performances during the ceremony demonstrated the commitment and hard work of the teaching staff.
Call for responsible citizenship
Addressing students, the chairman urged them to become responsible citizens by keeping their surroundings clean, protecting the environment, respecting elders, obeying the law, and contributing positively to society.
He said building a better and cleaner Karachi requires the collective efforts of every citizen.
Ceremony marks Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir
The event was attended by UC Chairman Majid Khan, Council Members Saima Ejaz and Asma Tahir, Director Education Azeem Haider, teachers, parents, students, and officials from the Town Municipal Corporation.
Students presented patriotic songs, speeches, tableaux, and cultural performances highlighting the sacrifices and struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Fawad Ahmed reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people and paid tribute to their resilience.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the people of Kashmir, the Muslim Ummah, and for Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity.
