LAHORE: Four Lahore Police officers have been suspended after the alleged assault of journalist Natiq Rehan while he was covering a protest. The action was ordered by DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran, who also directed a departmental inquiry into the incident.
According to Lahore Police, the DIG took notice of the matter after reports emerged that the journalist was allegedly subjected to violence during the protest coverage.
Four Officers Suspended
Police identified the suspended personnel as:
- Zain-ul-Abidin
- Muhammad Musaddiq
- Najam-ul-Hasan
- Muhammad Farhan
The officers have been suspended pending the outcome of the departmental proceedings.
Departmental Inquiry Ordered
DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran has ordered a formal departmental inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish responsibility.
Police said further action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the inquiry.
