LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering assigning senior positions to former national team captains as part of a potential restructuring of its cricket operations and team management setup.
According to sources, former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is being considered for the role of head coach of the national Test team. He is also reportedly among the candidates being considered for a position on the national selection committee.
Sources further indicated that Mohammad Hafeez could be appointed Director of Cricket International at the PCB. In addition to that role, he may also be given responsibilities within the national selection committee.
Changes under consideration
The reported changes are part of ongoing discussions regarding the management and performance structure of Pakistan cricket.
According to sources, current Test team coach Sarfraz Ahmed and Test captain Shan Masood could face changes to their current positions if the proposed restructuring moves forward.
No official announcement yet
Sources said that while Sarfraz Ahmed may no longer be part of the national Test team setup, he is expected to continue his responsibilities with the Pakistan Shaheens program.
The PCB has not issued an official statement regarding the reported appointments or potential changes. Any decisions related to coaching, leadership, or administrative roles are expected to be announced formally once approved by the board.
