UPPER DIR: Provincial Food Minister Zahir Shah Khan Toru has stated that no one will be allowed to sell adulterated food items in Upper Dir and across the province, thereby spreading diseases among the public. Action has been taken against individuals and elements involved in adulteration in the past and will continue to be taken.
During his four-day visit to Dir and Chitral , Toru addressed the public and answered questions seassion at the District Council Hall. He highlighted the PTI government’s efforts to develop backward districts despite the federal government’s failure to pay outstanding dues. Toru stressed providing facilities to the public within available resources.
Toru said that following Imran Khan’s vision and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s clear instructions, all DCs and commissioners have been directed to identify the main sources of ice and other drugs to bring those playing with public lives and health to justice.
Present on the occasion were MPA Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Yamin Khan, Gul Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar, DFC Syed Nawaz, Tehsil Chairman Wari, and others.
Toru stated that the PTI government is working to develop backward districts despite the center’s non-payment of dues. He emphasized that his government will not recognize the Form 47 government and will continue to struggle for the people’s rights.
Regarding food security, Toru said that the province has a wheat reserve of 430,000 metric tons, enough for 25 days, and aims to increase it to three months’ supply. However, the central government is withholding payments.
The Minister reiterated that adulteration in milk and other food items will not be tolerated. He mentioned that the Food Ministry recently tested 583 milk samples across the province, sealing and blacklisting 17 major shops found involved in adulteration.
Toru vowed to eliminate supply chains of substandard chips, papad, milk, and other substances, and to identify and eliminate sources of ice and other drugs.
He said to the public that I will not accept the recommendation of such elements, PTI or other parties, so they should avoid the recommendation of such persons so that the lives of the people are safe and they are protected from the spread of dangerous diseases.
