The first polio virus case of 2025 has been reported in Pakistan. The health department has confirmed a new case in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a 13-month-old girl from Tank tested positive for the virus. This marks the fifth polio case from Tank since 2024.
The National Institute of Health also verified the new case. Since last year, Balochistan has recorded 27 polio cases, Sindh 19, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 21. Islamabad and Punjab each reported one polio case during this period.
In 2024, the total number of polio cases across the country stood at 69, reflecting the continued challenge of eradicating the virus.
