KARACHI: Veteran Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has clarified his earlier comments about Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, saying he considers the Indian actor a good performer.

Jamal had previously made headlines after reportedly saying that while Shah Rukh Khan was a superstar, he did not consider him a good actor. The remarks went viral and generated considerable discussion on social media.

In a recent interview, however, Jamal appeared to distance himself from those comments, saying he had never made such remarks about Shah Rukh Khan.

“I consider him a good actor,” Jamal said, describing Shah Rukh Khan as part of the legacy and continuation of legendary actor Dilip Kumar.

Jamal explained that every actor develops a particular artistic approach and is influenced by performers who came before them. He said his own acting style was influenced by Dilip Kumar, Muhammad Ali and Agha Talish, among others.

The veteran actor also spoke about imitation as part of an artist’s development, arguing that performers often begin by observing and emulating others before developing their own individual style.

When asked about Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, Jamal appeared irritated by the question and said that she was not his personal issue.

He questioned why his name continued to be linked with Mahira Khan, adding that she was not a member of his family.
