FBR Holds Tax Awareness Session at PNCA to Guide Staff on Return Filing

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue held a tax awareness session at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts in Islamabad to guide employees on income tax return filing, compliance requirements and recent digital reforms in the tax system.

The session was organised by FBR’s Taxpayers’ Services Wing as part of its Tax Awareness and Outreach Campaign and was aimed at promoting voluntary tax compliance among PNCA officers and staff.

The FBR delegation included Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary for Tax Education and Facilitation, and Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary for Tax Facilitation.

PNCA Director General Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, Director Performing Arts Sami Ullah Baloch, Director Zaffar Ali Khan and other officials attended the session.

FBR Outlines Digital Tax Reforms

During the briefing, Mumtaz explained FBR’s mandate and highlighted several reforms introduced to improve transparency, monitoring and taxpayer facilitation.

The measures included point-of-sale integration, the Track and Trace System, digital invoicing, the Faceless Customs System, cargo tracking, direct port delivery, the Reward and Rating System and video analytics for production monitoring.

According to FBR, video-based production monitoring has already been introduced in a number of sectors.

Mumtaz said the reforms were intended to widen the tax base, strengthen oversight and improve public confidence in the revenue authority.

Participants Guided on Income Tax Returns

Abdul Rehman Sheikh delivered a presentation on income tax return filing and explained the main steps and compliance obligations for taxpayers.

The interactive session also covered inherited assets in wealth statements, withholding tax on invoices that include sales tax and procedures for reporting restaurants that fail to issue point-of-sale invoices.

Participants also raised questions about email registration and access to tax services for people living in remote areas.

FBR officials responded to the queries and explained the relevant procedures and reporting channels.

The session concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between representatives of FBR and PNCA.
