Islamabad, March 25: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has postponed SSC (matric) annual examinations in selected overseas centres amid the Middle East conflict, citing security concerns and regional uncertainty.
According to an official notification, the suspension applies to examination centres in Iran, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Exams at all other international FBISE centres will continue as per the previously announced schedule.
Alternative arrangements for affected students
The board has withheld roll number slips for candidates in the affected countries and introduced a facilitation mechanism to ensure students can still appear in exams. Affected candidates may opt to take their exams in Pakistan or in nearby countries where examinations are proceeding normally.

FBISE said students and institutions can apply for this arrangement through official email addresses or designated WhatsApp helplines.
Conditional resumption and review timeline
The notification states that if logistical arrangements are restored in the affected countries during the ongoing exam period, students may be allowed to rejoin exams under the original timetable.
Institutions facing operational issues have been advised to make alternative arrangements, including in-house printing of answer sheets if required.
FBISE said the decision will be reviewed within 15 days based on the evolving security situation. If conditions improve, postponed exams will be rescheduled while remaining papers may proceed as planned.
Students and institutions have been advised to stay updated through official channels.
