ISLAMABAD: The Board of Governors of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has approved a significant increase in honorariums and allowances for examiners, supervisory staff and other personnel involved in the examination process.
The proposal, which was approved by a majority vote during the board’s meeting, revises the compensation package for examination staff in response to rising inflation and increasing operational costs.
Long-standing demand approved
Board of Governors member Hafiz Muhammad Basharat welcomed the decision and thanked FBISE Chairman and fellow board members for supporting what he described as a long-standing demand of the examination workforce.
He said the revision in honorariums had become essential in view of the increasing cost of living and would provide much-needed financial relief to thousands of teachers and examination staff across the country.
According to Basharat, he had strongly advocated before the board for an increase in payments to examiners, paper setters, superintendents, invigilators and other officials associated with the examination system.
He said the FBISE chairman played a constructive role by presenting the proposals before the Board of Governors, where members endorsed them through a majority vote.
Decision expected to strengthen examination system
Basharat said the increase in honorariums would boost the morale of teachers and other professionals responsible for conducting examinations.
He expressed gratitude to the FBISE chairman, members of the Board of Governors and everyone who contributed to the approval of the proposals.
He also expressed hope that the decision would help make the examination system more efficient, transparent and robust while ensuring greater recognition of the services rendered by examination staff.
