PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has announced the results of the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual Examinations, with education officials reporting an improvement in overall performance compared to previous years.
The results were formally announced by Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, who credited students’ hard work and reaffirmed the provincial government’s support for ongoing education reforms aimed at improving learning outcomes.
Examination Statistics
According to BISE Peshawar:
- 97,950 students appeared in the Class 9 (SSC Part-I) examinations.
- 57,847 students were promoted to Class 10.
- 95,496 students appeared in the Class 10 (SSC Part-II) examinations.
- 66,988 students successfully passed.
- 27,788 students did not qualify in the examination.
Education officials said this year’s results reflect an overall improvement in student performance compared to previous years.
Government Highlights Education Reforms
Speaking at the result announcement ceremony, Muhammad Khalid said students’ success would contribute to Pakistan’s future and emphasized the importance of strengthening conceptual learning instead of rote memorization.
He said the government fully supports ongoing reforms in the examination system and encouraged teachers to help students develop critical thinking by promoting classroom discussion and questioning.
The secretary also acknowledged that the recently introduced cluster examination system had created some difficulties for students and said efforts would be made to improve the process in future examination sessions.
Board Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency
BISE Peshawar Chairman Khuda Bakhsh praised monitors and supervisors for ensuring the smooth conduct of the examinations and said the board remained committed to providing better facilities for students.
He said the board was working to eliminate cheating, strengthen merit, and modernize the examination process. According to the chairman, the board plans to transition from a manual system to a fully computerized examination system from next year to improve transparency and efficiency.
Top Position Holders
Among the overall top performers:
- Imama Ali of Peshawar Model School secured first position with 1,082 marks.
- Atika Shah, also from Peshawar Model School, secured second position with 1,078 marks.
- Hareem Khan of Peshawar Model School secured third position with 1,077 marks.
In the Humanities Group:
- Abu Zar secured first position with 1,088 marks.
- Saira Zafar (private candidate) secured second position with 1,074 marks.
- Sheikh Muhammad Hamdan secured third position with 1,072 marks.
In the Special Education category:
- Mahmood Ayaz secured first position.
- Rabia Bibi secured second position.
- Muhammad Azan secured third position.
Awards and cash prizes were presented to outstanding students during the ceremony.
