A man allegedly shot dead his daughter, son-in-law and an employee in Gujranwala after his daughter married by choice, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place in Mandiala Warraich, an area of Gujranwala district in Punjab. Police said the woman had contracted a love marriage about three months ago, which reportedly angered her father.
According to police, the suspect opened fire and killed his daughter and son-in-law. Investigators said he later allegedly killed an employee in an attempt to conceal the double murder.
Police said the bodies were shifted for medico-legal formalities, while further investigation was under way to determine the full circumstances of the killings.
Authorities did not immediately share further details about the suspect’s arrest status or the identities of the victims.
The case has again drawn attention to violence linked to choice marriages in Pakistan, where couples and women can face threats from family members over personal marriage decisions.
