SUJAWAL: The Sindh Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has completed a state-funded water supply scheme in Village Hussainabad, Taluka Jati, in just three months—nearly three years ahead of its original June 2027 completion deadline.
The newly completed scheme will provide clean and safe drinking water to 90 local households, addressing long-standing water access challenges in the rural community.
During an inspection of the facility, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Saleem Baloch praised the rapid implementation and technical execution of the project, carried out by contractor Amanullah Sheikh under the supervision of local engineers.
“This project sets a standard for efficient public delivery,” Baloch said during the visit, stressing the importance of expanding access to safe drinking water in rural areas.
He said the government aimed to replicate similar projects across villages in Sindh so communities could access clean drinking water at their doorsteps.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Abid Khawaja briefed visiting officials, including PHED Secretary Suhail Ahmed Qureshi, Chief Engineer Hyderabad Shafiq Memon, and Superintendent Engineer Sattar Jatoi, on the technical aspects of the scheme. Officials were informed that the infrastructure met the required quality standards despite the accelerated completion.
Contractor Amanullah Sheikh attributed the timely completion to the cooperation of local residents, saying villagers actively supported the project and wanted the scheme completed as quickly as possible. He also acknowledged the contribution of Engineer Barkat Ali to the project’s completion.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Baloch praised the commitment of the local community and emphasized that residents should take ownership of infrastructure projects established for their benefit. He also said the provincial government would continue launching similar public welfare projects.
The inspection attracted a large gathering of local leaders, elders and residents, who welcomed the visiting delegation.
Among those present were Nooruddin Khawaja, Engineer Firoz Khawaja, community leader Haji Khamiso Khawaja, Shahnawaz Khawaja, Shakeel Khawaja, Qasim Khawaja and Niaz Hussain Khawaja.
Residents presented traditional gifts to the visiting officials and expressed appreciation for the new water supply scheme, saying reliable access to clean drinking water would improve daily life and contribute to better public health in the community.
