RAWALPINDI — April 26, 2026: Punjab Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited multiple public facilities in Rawalpindi, including Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex, to review ongoing development work and administrative matters. The visit focused on progress under the rehabilitation of Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex and broader efforts to improve sports infrastructure.
During the visit, officials briefed the minister on development work at the complex, including upgrades to facilities and maintenance conditions. He inspected various sections, including the swimming pool, and directed authorities to improve the solar power system to better meet the energy needs of the entire facility.
Focus on energy efficiency and facility upgrades
Khokhar instructed the Project Management Unit to align the solar installation with actual energy requirements, particularly for the swimming pool, to ensure efficient and sustainable usage. Officials said the upgrades are part of a broader plan to modernise sports infrastructure in the province.
Food Street management and administrative directions
The minister also visited Pindi Food Street, where he reviewed operational arrangements. He directed relevant officials to immediately finalise agreements with the lessee, ensure proper documentation, and recover pending dues for submission to the Punjab Sports Board.
Plans for new sports facilities
At Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the minister inspected a site near the Food Street exit and identified it as suitable for the development of two padel tennis courts. Officials said the proposal aims to introduce modern sports facilities in the city.
Authorities stated that the visit reflects the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade sports infrastructure, improve facility management, and promote recreational activities for youth.
