Ethiopian ambassador visits Sialkot Chamber to discuss trade and investment opportunities

SIALKOT, May 12: Ethiopian Ambassador Oumer Hussien Oba visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, where discussions focused on expanding trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Ethiopia.

The ambassador was welcomed by SCCI Senior Vice President Murad Arshad and executive members of the chamber during his official visit.

Addressing business representatives, Ambassador Oumer Hussien Oba highlighted Ethiopia’s industrial and investment potential and encouraged Pakistani businesses to explore opportunities in sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, agro-processing, and information technology.

He said Ethiopia offers several advantages for foreign investors, including a large workforce, access to green energy, regional connectivity, and investment incentives introduced under the country’s economic reform programme.

According to the ambassador, Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms have aimed to improve productivity, encourage investment, and support job creation.

Focus on Pakistan-Ethiopia business cooperation

During the meeting, chamber representatives discussed the role of Sialkot’s export-oriented industries in strengthening business-to-business relations between the two countries.

SCCI representative Syed Ahtesham Mazhar thanked the ambassador for visiting the chamber and expressed hope for increased commercial cooperation between Pakistani and Ethiopian businesses.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer discussion on trade, investment, and economic collaboration opportunities.
