Bethell, who made his ODI debut for England in September, sustained the injury during the first match of the series in Nagpur.

Due to the injury, Bethell was ruled out of the three-match ODI series against India, and England called up Tom Banton as a replacement before the second ODI on Sunday.

Speaking after England’s defeat in the second ODI, Jos Buttler said, “I am sure that Jacob is out of the Champions Trophy. It is really unfortunate for him because he played well in the last match and is a talented player.”

Further updates on Bethell’s injury status are expected in the coming days, as England has yet to make an official announcement regarding his condition.
