Electricity consumers in Pakistan are set to receive relief after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a reduction of Rs1.99 per unit in electricity tariffs for a period of three months.

According to a notification issued by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, the reduction has been approved under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism for the period from January to March 2026.

The revised rates will provide temporary relief to consumers by lowering electricity costs during the applicable period.

Quarterly adjustment approved

NEPRA stated that the reduction is linked to the quarterly adjustment for electricity distribution companies and reflects changes in power sector costs during the relevant quarter.

The authority has formally notified the revised tariff, which will be applied in accordance with the approved adjustment schedule.

The latest reduction comes as consumers continue to face pressure from rising utility and living costs, with electricity tariffs remaining a key concern for households and businesses across the country.
