Police investigating the killing of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Karachi’s Quaidabad area say a DNA report has identified genetic material from at least three individuals on the child’s clothing, as the investigation into the case continues.
The child was found dead after what police initially suspected may have been a sexual assault. Authorities say the forensic findings are being examined alongside witness statements and other evidence to determine those responsible. The investigation remains ongoing, and no court has ruled on the allegations.
DNA Analysis Expands Investigation
According to police, forensic experts initially collected DNA samples from 14 individuals connected to the case. Additional samples were later obtained as investigators widened the scope of the inquiry.
The DNA report states that at least three separate DNA profiles were recovered from the victim’s clothing. Police have not publicly disclosed whether the profiles have been matched to specific individuals.
Police Probe Family Members’ Alleged Involvement
Police officials said the investigation has raised suspicions regarding the possible involvement of the child’s aunt by marriage and other close relatives. Investigators allege the child was killed and that her body was concealed inside a room before later being left outside the house.
Authorities also said they are investigating whether additional individuals may have played a role in the incident.
Police added that, at this stage of the investigation, they have not found evidence implicating the woman’s husband. The investigation remains active, and any allegations are subject to further forensic examination and judicial proceedings.
