Mumbai: Bollywood actor Dino Morea was questioned by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with an alleged ₹65.54-crore irregularities case involving the desilting of Mumbai’s Mithi River.

According to multiple Indian media reports, Morea was questioned for several hours after investigators sought clarification on facts that emerged during the ongoing probe. The case concerns alleged financial irregularities, tender-related issues and other suspected misconduct linked to contracts for the river’s desilting work

Reports about Morea’s arrest, however, are conflicting. Some outlets reported that he had been arrested after prolonged questioning at his Bandra residence, while Morea himself denied the reports, telling Mid-Day that they were “not true.” A senior Mumbai Police official subsequently said Morea had been allowed to leave after questioning, with the possibility of being called again if required.

The EOW is investigating alleged financial irregularities in the Mithi River desilting project, with the case involving an alleged loss of ₹65.54 crore to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Investigators are examining financial transactions and links between people and companies connected to the case

Morea and his brother Santino Rocco Morea had also been questioned by the EOW in May 2025. Investigators are examining business and financial links involving people associated with the case.

At this stage, the reported financial irregularities remain under investigation, and questioning or being named in an investigation does not establish guilt. The conflicting reports over Morea’s arrest also mean his exact legal status should be described cautiously pending official confirmation
