At least six people were killed and two others injured after a violent clash between two rival groups in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said. In a separate incident in the district, a grenade attack and gunfire at a house left a woman and two children injured.
The incidents occurred in different areas of Dera Ismail Khan and have prompted police investigations. Authorities have deployed additional personnel to maintain security and are working to identify those responsible.
Rival Group Clash Leaves Six Dead
According to police, the clash took place in the Hanyala Shah Hassan Khel area, where members of two rival groups exchanged fire.
Officials said five of the deceased belonged to the Ataullah group, while one person from the opposing group was also killed. Two people sustained injuries during the confrontation.
Police have deployed a heavy contingent to the area as investigations continue.
Woman and Two Children Injured in Separate Attack
In another incident in Wanda Ali, located in the Kadi Khaisor area, unidentified attackers allegedly threw a hand grenade at a house before opening fire.
Police said the house belonged to a resident identified as Iqbal. A woman and two children were injured in the attack and shifted to hospital for treatment.
Protest Held Outside Police Office
Following the attack, relatives of the victims and local residents staged a protest outside the office of the SP Paharpur, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved and improved security in the area.
Police said investigations into the grenade attack and firing are underway, and efforts are being made to trace the attackers.
