ISLAMABAD: COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) and Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote youth empowerment, skills development, volunteerism and community welfare across Pakistan.
The agreement, signed at CUI’s Islamabad campus, brings together the university’s academic and research expertise with HHRD’s experience in humanitarian assistance and community development.
The signing ceremony was attended by CUI Rector Prof Dr Raheel Qamar, HHRD Country Director Saleem Mansoori and Dr Robina Awan, focal person to the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.
Under the partnership, the two institutions will jointly organize training programmes, seminars, workshops, internships, volunteer initiatives and community service activities.
The collaboration will focus on youth leadership, humanitarian response, capacity building and social development, with particular attention to persons with disabilities and underprivileged communities.
CUI said the agreement would create more opportunities for students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world social challenges through structured volunteer and humanitarian projects.
The two sides also discussed digital transformation, sustainable institutional practices and entrepreneurship-led social impact.
COMSATS University highlighted its progress towards paperless operations and the role of its startup ecosystem in supporting innovation, job creation and socio-economic development.
Both organizations agreed to identify priority areas, launch joint projects and establish a coordination mechanism to ensure timely implementation of the agreement.
The partnership is expected to support youth development, strengthen civic responsibility and expand community-based initiatives aimed at improving social welfare in Pakistan.
