Abbottabad: A team representing COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus has secured second position in the Computing Track at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–26 Global Finals held in Shenzhen, China.
The achievement was led by Hira Khurshid, a sixth-semester BS Computer Science student, and Dr. Farmanullah, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. They were part of Pakistan’s national team that competed against participants from around the world in one of the largest international ICT competitions.
According to university officials, the team advanced to the global finals after winning at the national level and delivering strong performances in the regional finals for Central Asia and the Middle East.
Representing Pakistan alongside students from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila and Lahore Garrison University, the team earned international recognition for its performance in the competition’s computing category.
Sardar Naseer, Media Coordinator at COMSATS Abbottabad, said the achievement reflects the dedication, talent, and hard work of the university’s students and faculty. He added that the success highlights the growing contribution of Pakistani universities to the global information and communication technology sector.

The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual global event that brings together students from universities and higher education institutions to compete in areas including computing, networking, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence.
University officials described the result as a significant milestone for both COMSATS Abbottabad and Pakistan’s higher education sector, noting that it demonstrates the country’s growing presence in international technology competitions.
The administration, faculty, and students of COMSATS Abbottabad congratulated Hira Khurshid and Dr. Farmanullah on the achievement and praised their role in representing Pakistan on the global stage.
