THATTA: Unknown thieves reportedly broke into the Makhdoom Moeen Thattvi Library at the Thatta Press Club late Sunday night and stole nine computer CPUs and three LCD monitors.
Thatta Press Club President Iqbal Jakhro said the intruders entered the library after damaging its rear door and took the computer equipment.
Library Established to Support Students
Jakhro said the library was established by the Thatta Press Club in 2022 to provide students with access to educational resources and help improve their learning skills.
The facility can accommodate more than 50 students at a time and contains a collection of books as well as digital learning facilities.
Dr Shahid Siddiqui, a senior journalist from Thatta, condemned the theft and described it as a setback for educational development in Sindh. He said such incidents would not prevent members of the community from continuing their efforts to contribute to society.
The incident was also condemned by journalists including Muhammad Iqbal Khowaja, Wahab Sheikh and Yousif Dayo, among others.
Police Register Report
A Non-Cognizable (NC) report was later registered against unknown suspects at Thatta Police Station, according to officials.
A delegation from the Thatta Press Club also met SSP Thatta Adeel Chandio. The police officer assured the delegation of cooperation in efforts related to the incident.
