Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir held a meeting with British Chief of General Staff (CGS) General Patrick Sanders, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to military media, the two sides discussed issues of professional interest and measures to further improve bilateral defense relations.
The development came after the two top officials addressed the inaugural session of the Pakistan-UK Regional Stabilization Conference held at the National Defense University in Islamabad on Tuesday. CGS British Army General Sir Roland Walker was also present.
The Pakistan-UK Stabilization Conference is a major defense and security dialogue between the two countries held alternately in Pakistan and the UK, bringing together a large group of experts from various fields including diplomats, defense officials, intellectuals and civil society representatives.
A 30-member British delegation to the conference visited Pakistan from April 29 to May 3, led by the Chief of the Permanent Joint Staff, Major General Tom Bateman.
During the meeting, delegations from both sides will discuss the global and regional environment and its impact on national security, peace and stability in the region.
This year, the scope of the discussion has been expanded to include bilateral regional issues, and defense officials from both countries also participated in the conference.
COAS Munir also thanked General Sanders for his services in promoting military-to-military relations and welcomed the nomination of General Walker as CGS of the British Army.
