Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Kasur Sector and the Flood Relief Camp in Jalalpur Pirwala, Multan. He reviewed the prevailing flood situation and ongoing flood relief efforts. The visit also aimed to enhance coordination between the civil administration and the military, ensuring more effective assistance for the people. Moreover, Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials from the civil administration accompanied him during the visit.
During the briefing, COAS received updates on the rescue and relief operations. Officials provided details about the challenges in flood-affected areas of Kasur and Multan. He stressed the importance of good governance and inclusive, people-focused progress. In addition, he directed authorities to accelerate infrastructure development to protect communities from future floods. He firmly stated that Pakistan cannot afford to lose precious lives and property every year due to recurring disasters.
Furthermore, COAS highlighted the significance of coordinated civil-military action to overcome the difficulties faced by flood-hit communities. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to fully support initiatives aimed at public welfare. While interacting with flood affectees who had been evacuated through combined efforts of the Army and civil administration, he assured them of continued support in their resettlement and rehabilitation. The affectees, in turn, expressed deep gratitude to the Army for extending timely help at a moment of great need.
Meanwhile, the Army Chief also met with troops, Rescue 1122 teams, and police officials engaged in flood relief efforts. He appreciated their high morale, operational readiness, and selfless dedication. He praised their round-the-clock service in collaboration with civil authorities, which ensured timely relief and assistance for the affected population.
Later, COAS carried out an aerial reconnaissance of flood-affected areas along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala axes. He personally assessed the scale of damage and progress of ongoing relief operations. Finally, Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan welcomed him upon arrival in the affected areas, reaffirming their continued support for the mission.
