Rawalpindi/Wana: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday visited Wana in South Waziristan to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of troops deployed along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

During the visit, the army chief laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and offered Fateha for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country. He reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the Shuhada remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security, stability, and national resilience.

According to ISPR, the Field Marshal was given a detailed briefing on the current security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs), and border management measures aimed at countering cross-border threats. He was also apprised of the progress of Operation Ghazab lil Haq and recent developments along the western frontier.

Interacting with officers and troops stationed in forward areas, Field Marshal Asim Munir commended their professionalism, operational vigilance, and high morale amid ongoing skirmishes. He lauded their steadfast commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The army chief emphasised that the use of Afghan territory by what he described as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan to carry out terrorist activities against Pakistan was unacceptable. He said all necessary measures would be taken to neutralise threats emanating from across the border.

Field Marshal Munir reiterated that sustainable peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan could only be achieved if the Afghan Taliban renounced support for terrorist groups and prevented their soil from being used against Pakistan.

Expressing confidence in the combat readiness and operational synergy of formations deployed along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, the army chief appreciated the troops’ preparedness and resilience in safeguarding the country’s western frontiers.

Upon arrival in Wana, the Field Marshal was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar, ISPR added.
